Olivia just successfully fed herself one bite from a spoon. Her style is a bit off but it’s working!
Cowboys may suck but not our girl!

Olivia latest trick is kissing. She smooches at everyone and everything. It is unbearably sweet. We are so lucky.
Olivia hit a milestone today. First injury.
She was playing in the nursery and some toy part came apart and she stuck herself in the eye. She has a small blood blister in that eye but it didn’t really bother her.
Our pediatrician and our resident eye expert (BeBe) both said if the cornea were scratched she would be nonstop fussing. As she is completely unconcerned we just treat it as a bruise and wait a few days for it to clear up.
Sigh.
Olivia has officially learned to clap! Add that to her repertoire of bodacious waving and giggling and you have quite the complete party package.
… and too pooped to party. I handed her this rattle this morning and she started shaking and playing. I turned around to get something and suddenly it was quiet. She fell asleep mid-shake!
Today was a rough day in the household as it was Olivia’s first day at day care. Now, mind you, she’s a mere two floors away from Dawn all day, but it’s still an occasion of separation and trepidation.
Olivia slept 7 1/2 hours last night in preparation for her big day. I think she was a bit overamped with seeing my sister, her niece and nephews, and having dinner with Tommy and Andy at the Cosmic Cafe as well (which was tasty, I had the herban renewal, YUMMMMMMM). So when she finally went to sleep, she slept hard. I actually carried her downstairs still asleep, so no telling how long she would have slept if we had left her there.
We took her to day care and had to run the gauntlet of all the teachers and administrators who wanted to see the cute girl. Olivia has yet another new trick up her sleeve, the fake cough. It’s hilarious. She sticks her tongue out and just hacks. Not sure who was modeling coughing that she picked this up from, but there it is.
Anyway, i know the girl is fine in day care, and Aunt Amber has already dropped by to check in on her once this morning.
Yesterday was a particularly bad day for poor Dawn. First, Wednesday she backed into a car when she was leaving Amber’s house. Then, on the way to work Thursday, she got a speeding ticket for going 15 miles over the limit… when she is still in the process of getting her defensive driving course completed to clear a previous ticket! Not a good day at all.
So Amber and Gina were very sweet and kept the girl for the evening and overnight. We went to see Mamma Mia! which was just fabulous. Is it just me, or is Meryl Streep a goddess among mere mortals? Is there anything she can’t do? I SWEAR that she gave an Academy-Award level acting performance in the emotional singing of “The Winner Takes It All” smack-dab in the middle of a comical musical. Amazing. Pierce Brosnan was the weakest link.
Overall I just loved the musical and how much fun everyone seemed to have performing in it, and how many different ages and body shapes and types there were, all dancing and having fun. And of course you can’t go wrong with ABBA music.
It was surreal coming home and not bringing in the girl. I kept thinking we needed to go back to the car to get her. It’s the first time we’ve come home without her in 4 1/2 months.
Of course, she wasn’t stressed at all… we picked her up at Amber’s this morning and she was as happy as a clam. She loves her Aunt Amber.
